Position Title: Volunteer Coordinator & Facilities Manager

Position Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator & Facilities Manager plays a vital dual role in supporting the ministry and
operations of Bethel Bible Camp. This individual is responsible for recruiting, training, and caring for
volunteers who serve at camp, while also overseeing the upkeep, safety, and functionality of camp
buildings, grounds, and equipment. The ideal candidate is a servant-hearted leader who demonstrates
strong organizational skills, practical maintenance ability, and a passion for sharing Christ’s love through
camp ministry.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Coordination (approx. 50%)
• Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteers for camp programs, events, and work projects
• Develop and maintain volunteer schedules, role descriptions, and communication systems
• Provide orientation, training, and spiritual encouragement for volunteers
• Maintain volunteer records, waivers, certifications, and background checks
• Foster teamwork, accountability, and a strong Christian community among staff
• Plan volunteer appreciation initiatives and foster a Christ-centered culture of service
• Coordinate volunteer teams for seasonal workdays, special events, and camp sessions
• Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, providing support and guidance|
Facilities Management (approx. 30%)
• Oversee the maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of all camp facilities, cabins, grounds, and equipment
• Conduct regular inspections and coordinate needed repairs promptly
• Manage facility usage schedules and ensure readiness for programs and guest groups
• Assist with event setup, seasonal transitions, and facility readiness for camp sessions or retreats
• Lead volunteer or staff work crews during maintenance or improvement projects
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, inspectors, and utility services, as needed
• Maintain supplies and inventories for maintenance, landscaping, and custodial needs
• Ensure compliance with safety, accessibility, and environmental regulations
Other (approx. 20%)
• Public speaking: including sharing what is happening at camp with various interested groups and churches (there is no need nor desire to have the person in this position fundraising)
• Communicating with the Board of Directors and working alongside the Directors on the Board to ensure the camp’s needs are met (you will be joining an already active team who perform all of these duties at present)
• Maintain and update the website, social media, and online forms
• Engaging as preliminary point of contact for parent queries and feedback
• Oversee camper application process online and assist parents during registration season
• Housing (a tiny home) is only provided during the summer months and you can live elsewhere in the province during winter months
Qualifications
• A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
• Agreement with Bethel Bible Camp’s Statement of Faith
• Leadership, communication, and relational skills
• Ability to perform basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and grounds tasks (or propensity to learn)
• Organizational and administrative proficiency
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work outdoors in varied conditions
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass background checks and child-safety screenings
• Strong problem-solving and practical repair skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and work independently
• Experience or education in facility maintenance, construction, trades or volunteer coordination preferred
• Familiarity with updating site content/social media, monitoring web performance, and resolving technical issues
Work Environment
• June – August will include long hours, weekends, and evenings
• Combination of office tasks, hands-on maintenance work, and public speaking
• Collaborative environment grounded in prayer, teamwork, and service
Compensation
• Salary Range: $40,000 – $50,000/yr.
